Building on Hope Capital Campaign

St. Anthony is a special place and a wonderful community of disciples of Jesus. We do so much good for our members and for our community!

St. Anthony’s is looking to complete two major projects to ensure a healthy long-term future for the parish. These projects are being proposed only through much prayer, discernment, and discussion with parish leaders.

Over the long term, one of the these improvements will help us bring in money; the other will help us to save it.

Project Scope

Replace Existing Morton Building

($300K, including demo plus new construction)

The parish garage sales are huge fundraisers for our parish, making $50-$60K/year. They build camaraderie among volunteers, encourage a ‘greener’ process of reusing and recycling goods and are counted on by people in our community as a wonderful place to get inexpensive goods. The current building, used for both storing and selling items, is dilapidated, unsightly, dangerous and has limited space. The pavilion and center are filled up and can’t be used for other parish functions leading up to each sale. A new building is an effective solution to these challenges.

Solar Energy Conversion

($100K total after rebates; $400 upfront)

St. Anthony is currently paying over $20K /yr on electricity. Costs have risen steadily. Increases of 10%/yr for the next four years are expected.

The panels will be ground-mounted. Those powering the parish center and church (about 130 panels) will go on the southwest of the campus, behind the Morton building.

With 50% federal rebates and 25 – 30% state rebates, the installation costs pay for themselves in less than a decade. The downstream savings will lower our bills by up to 80%. Future generations in the parish will enjoy greater budget margin as a result. Sustainable energy is also a responsible choice in conformity with Catholic teaching.
